What do you think a green movement in the Art of Living can accomplish? What kind of impact can we make on our individual lives, organization and world? How do you picture we would best accomplish those dreams?

We can do a lot!
Aside from all of us having more awareness and taking responsibility in our own lives, I would really, really like to see the Montreal ashram with more green systems in place. Sustainable energy sources and environmentally friendly building practices would be great to see there. I think they are starting to move in that direction now, but we could help by doing some research or using any contacts we might have to find cheap alternatives for green technology, etc.. Any other ideas on this?

I know of a community that recently built a sustainably energized structure. I can't tell you all of the details but I know that heat comes through the floor and there is an unusually effective ventilation system, and I seem to remember something about rainwater collection and cisterns. The person with more information is Din Dayemi at 618-529-5044.

After seeing the plight of cotton farmers in some parts of India, I feel urgency about the need to encourage the development of a market for organic cotton products from India. Could Art of Living start selling organic cotton products in the Divine shops at ashrams and at the bigger courses? If anyone has a source for organic cotton products from cotton grown by struggling farmers, we need to start marketing them for our communities all over the world. If you have more information on this problem from an Indian perspective, and I'm sure someone on the Green Team does, please share it so we can start to address this problem. Jai Guru Dev.
